The Hall of Fame award banquet will be held at the Creekside Golf Club in Lavalette, WV on November 6th. Fellowship time will be at 6:00 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. (pizza, wings, and salad with non alcoholic beverages)  The cost of dinner will be $5.00 per member with the Award Banquet and recognition of the 2023 Hall of Fame class beginning at 7:00 p.m.

 

The River Cities Football Officials Association is pleased to announce that the following former football officials were selected by a vote of the membership to be included in the 2023 River Cities Football Officials Association Hall of Fame. They were selected from a list of nominations that included thirty-one former officials. They are listed in alphabetical order:

As members of the River Cities Football Officials Association and its predecessors, these individuals have given their time and their energies to officiating the game of football from the youngest levels of youth league activities to the highest levels of intercollegiate football. They have not only served as officials for the improvement, safety and fair play of the game, but they have also demonstrated outstanding character in their willingness to serve, teach, and show leadership in the sport of football, demonstrated a significant contribution of their time and energy to their communities, the members of the West Virginia Secondary School Athletic Commission and the Ohio High School Athletic Association. With these qualifications in mind, the membership of the River Cities Football Officials Association has chosen to honor their service by inducting them into the RCFOA Hall of Fame. They will be honored at the annual RCFOA banquet that will be scheduled after the end of regular season games in November at Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant located at the Huntington Mall. At that time, a plaque will be unveiled that will be located in the restaurant and will include the names of this years inaugural class, as well as the names of future members that will be honored by the River Cities Football Officials Association.

Qualifications:

  1. Has been retired from officiating for at least 2 years.

  2. Has been an active official for at least 20 years with the River Cities Board.

  3. Has provided service to the State or River Cities Board as an officer, mentor, or new officials training coordinator, or local clinic coordinator or presenter.

  4. Receives a recommendation from the River Cities Board Hall of Fame Committee.

  5. Has exemplified a professional bearing and commitment to demonstrate the attributes of a knowledgeable and thoughtful official of the River Cities Football Officials Association.

Proposed criteria for voting:

 ·        The first class of the RCFOA Hall of Fame inductees will consist of up to twelve (12) former officials that receive the most votes. This does not mean that there will end up being 12 individuals chosen if there is a multiple tie that would lead to more than 12 inductees.

·        The following years thereafter will be limited to up to four (4) members.

·        Each voting member picks (number to be determined) nominees.

·        Possible manner of future voting if approved by the membership of the RCFOA

v Your first choice gets 5 points

v 2nd choice 4 points

v 3rd choice 3 points

v 4th choice 2 points

v 5th choice 1 point.

·        Top vote getters get in the hall of fame.

The votes will be cast by active RCFOA members in good standing as well as current those enshrined in the RCFOA Hall of Fame the year after they are enshrined.
